We've all heard about 'SMALL TOWN POLITICS', the 'GOOD OLD BOYS CLUB' and all the other 'monikers'; now you'll have a chance to read the letters that I've written to Lund seeking answers as to just SOME of what is taking place in our City. Ask yourself: WHY did Lund, as a 'CITY OFFICIAL', FAIL TO RESPOND ?? Is he 'too important' ?? Perhaps he needs a Secretary. How about a 'City Car' ?? Complete with the finest cigars and an 'Armed Chauffeur'.
The Mayor of ANY City, regardless of size, is the person that is ABSOLUTELY and TOTALLY RESPONSIBLE for ANYTHING and EVERYTHING that takes place in their City. PERIOD !! Since his election as the Mayor of Hamburg, I've sent NUMEROUS letters to Lund seeking information about various topics that Hamburg Taxpayers would find to be VERY 'INTERESTING' about what's taking place in our 'small town' of around 500 residents.
As JUST ONE example (and there are MANY MORE), because of a leak in the natural gas line going to the standby generator, it was 'RED TAGGED' by Xcel Energy. The City of Hamburg was WITHOUT EMERGENCY BACKUP POWER for the CITY'S WELLS and WATER TREATMENT PLANT, FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME. (WEEKS, IN FACT !!) Then, when the gas line got fixed, the GENERATOR STILL WOULDN'T START because THE BATTERY WAS TOTALLY DEAD !! YEP; THAT'S RIGHT !!
In addition to that being a POTENTIAL HEALTH ISSUE TO CITY RESIDENTS, had there been a FIRE in the City when the XCEL ENERGY POWER was 'OUT' (like during a storm), the results could have been CATASTROPHIC !!
I didn't see the former Mayor or any other 'City Officials' come 'running to the rescue'; I was the ONLY ONE that seemed to be CONCERNED and, certainly; the ONLY ONE who KNEW WHAT TO DO !! Because I took my 'Elected City Position' seriously, I facilitated getting everything back 'on line' again. I also established a weekly 'test schedule' to be sure it would be ready to 'take over' and 'everything would work as intended' whenever the power went out.
PUBLIC OFFICALS are PAID WITH TAXPAYER DOLLARS and, as such, they are ACCOUNTABLE to TAXPAYERS !! But Lund thinks he's 'special' and has a CONSISTENT 'track record' of REFUSING TO ANSWER my letters to him seeking information about what's taking place in the City of Hamburg. Check back to see MORE UNANSWERED LETTERS that were sent to Lund INCLUDING the one sent that involved DISCREPENCIES and INCONSISTANCIES in the CITY'S CHECKING ACCOUNT that I just happened to 'stumble upon' !!
Even though LUND KNEW ABOUT IT (and I'VE GOT THE ACTUAL LETTERS TO PROVE THAT), YOU GUESSED IT; my letter to Lund was NEVER ACKNOWLEDGED by the City, the issue was NEVER ADDRESSED by the City and NOTHING WAS EVER DONE by the City !!
You'll ALSO see the letter that I sent to Lund when he was seeking to be elected to the position CARVER COUNTY COMMISSIONER upon Jim Ische's retirement. Lund, who received only 14 votes from Hamburg residents, ONCE AGAIN, like so many times before, DIDN'T RESPOND to my inquiries to (and about) him !! You'll find that Lund's REFUSAL to respond to that particular letter will be VERY REVEALING as to his 'character'. (Or lack thereof.) Lund's being elected as a CARVER COUNTY COMMISSIONER was a 'long shot'; it is FORTUNATE for ALL Carver County residents, it DIDN'T HAPPEN !! And who's ever heard of a 'political campaign' being funded with a 'GO FUND ME' ACCOUNT ?? FACT is certainly STRANGER than FICTION !!
