I have tried to think of any part of my life where government is not involved in some way, shape or form. While I believe we cannot live without "the people" looking out for each other, I believe we have created a monster that has an appetite we can not sustain. Something has to give ......

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Born In 1943, I Am Now A
Retired Law Enforcement Officer
Whose Career Began in 1966.
In addition to attaining the rank of Sergeant with the MAPLE PLAIN (Minnesota) POLICE DEPARTMENT (now WEST HENNEPIN DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY), I joined the HENNEPIN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE (Minnesota's Largest Sheriff's Office) in October 1969 as a Senior Deputy Sheriff and attained the rank of Sergeant in both the RADIO/COMMUNICATIONS DIVISION as well as in the WARRANT/FUGITIVE DIVISION.
While continuously maintaining a valid MINNESOTA POLICE OFFICER STANDARDS & TRAINING BOARD (P.O.S.T.) License until it's expiration in 1997, I retired from the Sheriff's Office in September 1984. I am also a former EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN (E.M.T.) and a UNITED STATES AIR FORCE FIRE PROTECTION SPECIALIST.
In 2012, I was elected to a four year term on the HAMBURG (Minnesota) CITY COUNCIL, I currently host THREE Websites as well as a regularly scheduled hour long, five times a week Internet Show and a series of Internet Programs that primarily feature current & retired Law Enforcement and other Public Safety Officials. The book contains the complete written transcript of my approximately ninety-minute interview with an investigator from the McLeod County Sheriff's Office.
This investigation began after HAMBURG CITY OFFICIALS filed a FORMAL CRIMINAL COMPLAINT against me with the Carver County Sheriff's Office while I was serving as an elected member of the Hamburg City Council.
Because the City of Hamburg contracts with the Carver County Sheriff's Office for police services, authorities recognized the potential appearance of a conflict of interest. As a result, the matter was referred to the McLeod County Sheriff's Office as an independent outside law enforcement agency for investigation.
After conducting a thorough investigation, the McLeod County investigator found absolutely no evidence whatsoever of any wrongdoing on my part.
The investigator then forwarded the complete results of the investigation to a second independent outside agency—the Scott County Attorney's Office—for additional review.
After reviewing all of the evidence, the Scott County Attorney's Office likewise concluded there was no basis for criminal charges.
In short, two separate independent agencies reviewed the allegations and found no evidence supporting the complaint.
WHAT HAPPENED NEXT
Having failed to obtain a criminal prosecution, HAMBURG CITY OFFICIALS then undertook additional actions against me while I continued serving as an elected City Council member.
These actions included:
• Issuing two formal censures against me.
• Demanding the return of City-owned property, including keys to City facilities.
• Banning me from City Hall and other City properties except for attendance at official City Council meetings.
• Ordering that I have no contact with City employees.
Despite these efforts, I proudly completed my entire four-year elected term on the Hamburg City Council.
